After all, why make it difficult? With the same aluminium beam frame and engine as the CRF250R, the CRF250RX is already special. But it also has Showa suspension re-set for use away from the MX track, an 18-inch rear wheel, a larger fuel tank and a sidestand. So, when the going gets really tough–or tight and technical–and where bigger bikes become difficult and simply wear you out, the CRF250RX shines. Its power delivery keeps you moving forward, while the chassis finds the grip–and lets you use it. It makes fast, easy.
The CRF250RX shares the DOHC 4-valve engine of its MX2 sibling–with the same hard-hitting peak power–but has revised fuelling and ignition mapping to soften the delivery for more general off-road use. Stronger torque through lower rpm range has been achieved with a 44mm diameter throttle body, to speed up airflow; the inlet and exhaust ports have been re-shaped and the exhaust valve cam 'closing' profile also reduced by 2°. The right-hand exhaust downpipe is also 50mm shorter. Honda engines are famed for their durability –and a new 5-hole piston jet ensures optimum piston cooling.
