Husqvarna
is undoubtedly the founder of Supermotard racing. In fact, it was
the first, at the beginning of the 90’s, to race with an official
team in the various national championships (first the French) and to
mass produce a supermotard bike in its range.
During the centennial year Husqvarna will present a replica of an
official motorcycle in Milan: the SMR 630, an authentic copy of the
motorcycle driven by Eddie Seel in the currently disputed world
supermotard championships. Cylindrical capacity was increased from
570 to 630cc, thanks to a 98 mm by 84 mm bore and stroke. The piston
is more compressed and the camshaft is the one found on racing
bikes. The ignition is the same one used on the NOX and the
carburettor is a Kehin.
The use of compound material is abundant, as with the clutch and
ignition cover made of carbon. The spark plug is surface discharge
type. All engine screws and most of those used on the chassis are
made of titanium. The chassis was updated with the modifications
that involved all the new Supermotard Husqvarna 2003 team racing
bikes.
The exhaust pipe is adjustable and lower than the standard one to
improve the driving position on the front of the motorcycle. The
standard steering angle is 24,5° with 67, 5 mm frontal position. The
titanium foot rests have a 10 mm raised clamp to permit maximum
leaning without irritating encumbrances.
The rear chassis was adjusted to permit quick shock absorber
removal. The fork is shorter (545 mm) . The exhaust pipe is mono
type and the cooling circuit was modified and enhanced. The 45 mm
diameter Marzocchi racing forks have been externally modified for
the lowered exhaust and have CrN finished shafts. he fork plates are
solid formed like the handlebar clamps.
The front brake pump is 16 x 16 radial type and the collet is the
same one found on the Nox. The blue anodised rims are 3.50 x 16,5 in
the front and 5.00 x 17 in the back and support 120’ and 165’ racing
tyres respectively.
The use of compound material is abundant such as in the conveyors
and side panels and for the various brake pump, engine and chain
guide guards that are all made of carbon.
