Impressive results for Husqvarna's enduro newcomer Alex 'Rocky' Rockwell

Despite the Knighton Enduro being only his fourth ever British Enduro Championship event MPS Racing Husqvarna rider Alex Rockwell showed that he is without question one of the UK enduro scene's brightest young talents as the Manxman placed sixth overall on day one before placing a highly creditable third behind experienced enduro campaigners David Knight and Daryl Bolter on day two.

Returning to UK competition having battled his way through the recent fourth and fifth rounds of the Enduro World championship in Poland and Slovakia, Rockwell put in a solid day's riding during the opening days competition matching the times of former world champion Paul Edmondson for much of the day. Making no mistakes on either the motocross or enduro special tests a fading rear brake during the day's very last test prevented Alex from placing fifth overall. Nevertheless Alex still managed to finish third in the Enduro 1 four-stroke class and sixth overall.

Day two saw Alex produce his best result in the BEC to date finishing a well deserved third overall aboard his TE 250 and as runner-up in the Enduro 1 four-stroke class. Performing consistently throughout the day and placing just five seconds behind eventual overall winner David Knight at the end of the opening special test Alex ended the event extremely pleased with his performances and looking forward to the next round of the BEC series, the Dyfi Enduro in mid August.

Alex Rockwell: ‘I'm really happy with my results this weekend. I feel like I rode well and with the exception of a few small mistakes everything went great. Although I'm still getting used to grass special tests I think it's the first time that I've been able to really put into practice what I've learned from competing in the Enduro World Championship. The first few tests on day one were really slippery but I managed to put in two pretty good times. Things got better and better after that really. My rear brake started to fade on the very last test, which cost me some time, but apart from that I was pleased with my riding. Tight checks are something I'm still not used to but I managed to stay on time, which was also good. I only had about five seconds to spare but staying on time meant I finished sixth overall, which was great. Day two was brilliant. I'm still learning so much but everything went well. The tests were drier and there was a lot more traction so I could really push hard, which I liked. Finish third overall is fantastic. It's been a fantastic event all in all, I hope I can continue to learn and improve at the Dyfi Enduro now.'
